CALL FOR A FREE CASH OR INSURANCE BASED QUOTE
Call your insurance company and request a free storm damage inspection. If you are not certain of a storm date, just tell them you are not sure. If we find a better storm date with our weather reporting system, we can ask the desk adjuster to change the reported storm date. Insurance companies often use the severity of the storm on the reported date as a major factor in deciding whether to pay your claim or not. If you guessed on a date where there was only minimal hail, they may deny but if you have a date where the report shows significant hail and/or wind, this can be helpful. If they ask what you think was damaged - Just say "not sure, please inspect, roof, gutters, windows, fence along with personal property" (like trampolines, grills etc).. Make sure you say this is a hail and wind inspection. For instance - If you just say just hail and they find wind damage, the wind damage may not get covered.
FYI: *Homeowner's insurance rates cannot be increased in Texas for a storm claim if it is due to an act of God- ie: hail/wind.
The insurance company will let you know when a licensed adjuster is scheduled to come inspect your property. It is a good idea to have one of our contractors at this meeting since they may point out some things the inspector could miss. The meeting will take about 30-60 minutes and you actually do not need to be there while they review damages unless you have interior damage which requires entering the home. Make sure to put doggies in the house and unlock fences so they can inspect the back of the home.
If damage is found, you will get a detailed report known as the claim estimate. This estimate is almost always done using Xactimate software which calculates labor and materials for different zip codes across the US. We use this software and will write our own estimate for you if the insurance company has neglected to cover some items and/or is not being fair to you. The claim paperwork is riddled with industry language and confusing formatting etc.. We can help you make sense from all this and explain how much money you were awarded to spend on various items. Often money is shifted around to make you happier - for instance - we may bondo a few dings on a garage door and paint the whole door and fix some rotted surrounding trim instead of just replacing the panels.
*DEDUCTABLES - If the deductible is something concerning for you - Just talk to us or your preferred contractor... There are many alternatives to coming up with the deductible. For example - Sometimes you can leave some of the ancillary items off of the project and you can repair them yourself or find a less expensive handyman service- things which are commonly treated this way are damaged screens, fence power washing/staining, dented garage panels, outbuildings, personal items etc... Many companies like ours are talented in helping you find a happy solution and/or also offer finance options for a deductible or other remodeling items you may want to consider like painting etc. Note: deductibles in Texas are regulated by the insurance commissioner. If you and a contractor simply agree to "waive the deductible" with no consequence as a balance, you can both be charged with a crime by the state of Texas.
We will write a contract showing what is to be restored and set a day for the work. Crews typically arrive at first light and work until it gets dark if the job requires more than one day. Most jobs are completed in one day for the roof and other items are typically scheduled for a different time, but will also be completed within one day. During the repair process it is common to find other damage and we will send an email with photos and a request for coverage to the insurance company for you.
FREE - We often upgrade clients with higher grade shingles (sometimes getting you a discount in premiums), synthetic felt (better seal then paper felt), starter shingles (unique shingles which seals the perimeter better), ice and water (rubberized barrier put in the valleys of the roof where it comes together - ensuring leaks don't happen) and a larger drip edge (to hide the old marks where the smaller drip edge around the home was removed). Not only does all this make the home "prettier" but safer against leaks. We spend this additional money to feel good about our quality workmanship, get referrals and ensure we are not coming right back out to find leaks and make repairs. We take off all old material on the roof down to the wood decking and often repair, replace and paint fascia and soffit along with completely replacing your gutters instead of detaching and resetting them. Unless it is needed for the entire roof system - We replace damaged or sagging decking the insurance did not cover at no charge. Everyone at our firm enjoys the process of picking the colors and style of shingle, paint and gutters. Most of our clients choose to "change it up." We have a myriad of samples from the best products in the world to help you in the process and can upload a photo of your home and offer you a visual on different product and color choices with one of our on-line tools by Owens Corning.
